We Love Because God Loves Us
I John 4:7-11

Love God Love Others

God created us to be like Him.
We need to
1. learn to love God
2. learn to love others

Love starts with God. God loved us first. God gives us the ability to love others. We have love because God is love.

We need to understand and learn the real love God has for us. We need to unconditionally love God. We need to realize real love is beyond a “feeling”.

When you stop and look at how we want God to be towards(treat) us, then we will change the way we treat others.

We have unconditionally love from God, we need to be able to love others.

The Elements of Effective Prayer
Nehemiah 1:4-5

Nehemiah was the king’s cup-bearer. His people was in exile. The walls remained un-repaired and the people unprotected. The city was in ruins.
Nehemiah got permission to rebuild the wall. He had opposition from within and without, but he persevered to get the city rebuilt.

Impossible tasks are possible for God! Put God in the beginning before the end.

When you have great opportunity, you will always have great opposition. Pray and seek the face of God.

Your prayer should
1. Praise God – give God praise for who He is!
2. Engage in Thanksgiving – thank God for your current situation!
3. Have a Spirit of Repentance – Repent!
4. Have Commitment – Be committed!

Trusting In God
Job 13:15

Trust in God in whatever you are going through and you will get through.

Job was opened to Satan because he lived a life that was pleasing to God.
Job responded to criticism from family and friends, but he never lost his faith.
His faith and trust in God made him what and where he was at this point in his life.

Don’t lose you faith in the midst of what you are going through.

When you are:
Broken by Pain
Burden by Pressures
Bothered by People
Bewildered by Problems
You need to trust God completely and you will be blessed.

We go through things to bring us to a place to have absolute trust in God.

Live God’s way and Apply His principles to your life!
You will be able to get through it, Make it out of it and withstand it because of your trust in God!

Self-Deception
James 1:12-16

The enemy is not always your biggest problem. Sometimes it’s the battle within yourself. We make wrong choices and bad decisions. It’s always easy to blame others for your wrong thoughts and deeds.

Stop blaming others and accept responsibility for your wrong deeds and action; then ask God for forgiveness. If you don’t you are living a life of self-deception!

We reap because of what we have sown! Stop making excuses!

In order to avoid pitfalls and walking in deception:
1. Accept responsibility for your wrong doings
2. Learn how to confess them; own up to what you did on your own
3. Ask God for forgiveness

You are drawn away from God’s will by your own doing. You have more of you in you that God in you.

Deal with you! You have to give account unto God for the things you chose to do.

Live a life with purpose!

Pastor Dr. Jonathan T. Phillips, Jr.

Powerful Prayer
Acts 12:5

In this passage we see Peter was in jail. The church prayed for him. They prayed continually and as one. While the church prayed God was moving!

Powerful prayer is heard by God and answered. If you don’t believe then no need to pray. Prayer is heard by God and He moves on our behalf.

In order to have Powerful Prayer, you need to
1. Learn how to pray together. (Be on one accord)
2. Learn how to pray specifically. (Let God know what you want)
3. Learn to pray consistently.

When you pray God should know your voice. Therefore, pray so He will know who you are. Engage in powerful prayer!

Rev. Dr. Jonathan T. Phillips, Jr.
