James 1:12-16

The enemy is not always your biggest problem. Sometimes it’s the battle within yourself. We make wrong choices and bad decisions. It’s always easy to blame others for your wrong thoughts and deeds.

Stop blaming others and accept responsibility for your wrong deeds and action; then ask God for forgiveness. If you don’t you are living a life of self-deception!

We reap because of what we have sown! Stop making excuses!

In order to avoid pitfalls and walking in deception:
1. Accept responsibility for your wrong doings
2. Learn how to confess them; own up to what you did on your own
3. Ask God for forgiveness

You are drawn away from God’s will by your own doing. You have more of you in you that God in you.

Deal with you! You have to give account unto God for the things you chose to do.

Live a life with purpose!

Powerful Prayer
Acts 12:5

In this passage we see Peter was in jail. The church prayed for him. They prayed continually and as one. While the church prayed God was moving!

Powerful prayer is heard by God and answered. If you don’t believe then no need to pray. Prayer is heard by God and He moves on our behalf.

In order to have Powerful Prayer, you need to
1. Learn how to pray together. (Be on one accord)
2. Learn how to pray specifically. (Let God know what you want)
3. Learn to pray consistently.

When you pray God should know your voice. Therefore, pray so He will know who you are. Engage in powerful prayer!

March Madness
A Reason to Rejoice
Romans 5:1-5

Be joyful about your relationship with God!

With all that’s going on, it’s hard sometimes but we need to keep things in perspective. As Christians we should not look at things as the world does. We have something to rejoice about!

Every problem has a purpose! As Christians our problems have a new perspective and purpose. Our problems do not defeat us or hold us down. Our trials and tribulations are purposeful. There is a reason why God let’s us go through. There is a good purpose for every problem that God allows us to experience; not that the experience is good but the purpose is.

Every problem has a purpose:
1. ..we learn to keep things in the right perspective
2. ..our problems help develop our perseverance: strengthening us and deepen our trust in God
3. ..God allows us to go through so we a greater confidence about our future!

God has a watchful eye. He will not allow more than we can bear. God is developing us! Do not allow your problems to pressure you, but they should help you grow closer to God!

Rev. Dr. Jonathan T. Phillips, Jr.

Romans 5:-1-2
Reasons For Rejoicing

1…because your sins are forgiven!
2…because of being justified (just as if).  The blood of Jesus covers you.
3…because you have peace with God. You have access by faith into God’s grace.  You are bought with a price. You have peace because you are complete in Christ and you grow daily in Christ. You strive everyday to be closer to Him!
4…because you can freely enter into God’s presence that once was forbidden. You now have regular access to him as often as you want.

Materialistic/earthly things will pass away but the peace of God is eternal!

Hope is having confident expectations. You are sure God will do what he said and what He promised in His time not ours.

A relationship with God is “priceless”! There is nothing that compares!

Be Blessed!

Expect the Unexpected
Genesis 21:5-7

When God makes you a promise, hold fast and trust that He will bring it to pass.

In the lesson Sarah was of age and barren. But God made a promise to her and Abraham. He didn’t say when but it would come to pass.

In 2018 you do not know when and you do not know where but you know God will do what he said. In your waiting process don’t be the person that ruins or mess up what you have been praying about.

Abraham stepped in and did things his own way and listen to others. But God! Abraham was told he would be Father of all nations. God did what He promised.

When you move when God has not spoken:
1. You will run your own success.
2. You will need to resist your Satanic attack!

Don’t get impatient. Be bold and wait on God!

Pastor Phillips

The Boldness for Christ
Romans 1:16

Paul wants us to understand our Faith and walk with God. He boldly states he is not ashamed of the gospel because the gospel is the Word of God. The Word has power to save all of us! The good news, the Word, is from God himself.

If you have the faith to believe then you have the same faith to receive.

If God’s power can save, then that same power can deliver, heal, bring hope, peace, make you whole, prosper and whatever you ask God for you can have it!

Be bold in your faith!
Be bold in Christ!

The Way He Wants Us To Live
I Thessalonians 5:18

Paul writes to the Church of Thessalonians encouraging them to excel and grow. He also encourages them on how to live with Christ.

No matter what we face we must learn how to give thanks in all things.

We need to
1. Learn to love more
2. Learn to rejoice evermore
3. Pray without ceasing so we can be in constant contact with Him
4. Give Thanks always

In our everyday lives we want to give thanks depending on how we feel. But we need to remember to always be thankful, realize how blessed we are, and to live our lives in ways pleasing to God.

We need a radical spirit of gratitude. In everything we go through we need to see God in it. When we identify that God is in it, then we are victorious! As long as God’s hand is on us We can excel! Things may nor be comfortable to us, but God is still in it.

As long as God is in it, We can give God praise and we can give thanks in all things!

We need to end the year strong with the spirit of Thanksgiving.

A thankful Christian realizes in all things give thanks!

II Corinthians 9:6-8
Sowing Generously

Paul wrote this letter to the Church of Corinth. He encouraged them about their giving financially, giving to further support of the ministry and of the poor.

It is important to give financially, but there are other areas to sow and reap the harvest.

The same measure of your sowing will be the measure of your reaping (harvest).

Trust God at His word, have great faith, then you will have no problem sowing generously in all areas. In your sowing you shall reap the harvest. If you do it sparely then you reap sparely. If you sow negatively and sow discord, then you will receive it back.

Learn to sow more than just finance. Sow seeds of prayer, faith, love, good comfort, encouragement and a will of sacrifice; you will reap the same!

Live to be used by God.

If you are not sowing genuine and from the heart sincerely, then just keep it.
Give not grudgingly expecting something back. Do it from the heart! Do it cheerfully!
Whatever measure you sow, be positive and sincere. It’s not always about how much you can do, but about people knowing you will do!

Pastor Jonathan T. Phillips, Jr.
